Amish Friendship Bread
Important Note: Starter is live yeast. Do not refrigerate the starter. Do not use metal spoons or containers, only
glazed ceramic or plastic bowls or containers and wooden or plastic spoons.

- Day 1: Do nothing to starter bag.
- Day 2: Mush bag, do not open.
- Day 3: Mush bag, do not open.
- Day 4: Mush bag, do not open.
- Day 5: Mush bag, do not open.
- Day 6: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk to bag, mush bag.
- Day 7: Mush bag, let air out.
- Day 8: Mush bag, let air out.
- Day 9: Mush bag, let air out.
- Day 10: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk to bag and stir with a wooden spoon
or mush bag until blended. Pour four (4) 1 cup starters into new gallon-size Ziploc bags and
give to friends. Remember to keep one bag for yourself.
Put remaining contents of original bag into a big bowl and combine with:
- 1 cup oil
- ½ cup milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
Mix well, then add:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 large box instant vanilla pudding
- ½ tsp baking soda
Mix well. Grease 2 large loaf pans or 1 bundt pan (may use non-stick cooking spray).
Mix 3 Tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon together and coat baking pan with ¾ of this mixture.
Pour batter into pan(s) and sprinkle remainder of mixture on top of batter before baking.
Bake one hour @ 325 degrees for bundt pan.
